Hi, guys! I have just signed up for the CCFA's half marathon in Virginia on June 2nd and could really use your help fundraising for these diseases. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to post or not since this is a public forum, but I figured, if donations aren't allowed on here, just delete my post.
All of you have really been here for me during the hardest time of my life and I'm running this race for all of you. I never dreamed that I would be healthy again after last year and running 13 miles seems impossible to me right now; but, I am determined and am not going to give up. I know there will be a cure and it takes all of us to look for one. Thanks so much for listening and helping me out.

I think it's awesome that you are doing the marathon! :) It's awesome to raise money for a cause very dear to your (our) hearts. However, I did have to end up removing your donation link because fund raising is not allowed on HW even if it's non-profit. Good luck tho and I'm sure you will do awesome!

That's awesome. I'm totally out of shape, but I've started exercising. So I'm hoping (assuming I'm still in remission) to do the marathon next year.

How does the fundraising part work? Do you pick the goal amount?

hey, bananagirl, my informational meeting is a week from tomorrow. I don't know if I'm going to be able to run (or even walk!) 13 miles by July, but if not this year, then certainly next year.

Let's split up the country -- you get the eastern half and I'll take the western half ;-)

I'm so jealous!  I've always wanted to run one (I've never run a marathon before though).  There is a group at my work who did one out west last year - I gave to one of the girl's running. They are doing the one this year too, I think its in Napa in Sept? I've thought about signing up but its hard when you're getting over a flare to know if you'd be ready or not!

thanks for your support, everyone! i am in the process of writing a fundraising letter and mailing it to all the people i know. i'd say i'm a little nervous just because i've never run a race and 13 miles is LONG, especially in the summer. and with this disease, you just never know when you're gonna have a problem. hopefully, there will be bathrooms on this course or i'll be going in the bushes... not the first time.

hey, when i get my racing shirt, i'd like to put your names on it. if you'd like to run with me in spirit, email me your name so i can stitch it on. i think it would be cool to feel like you're all there with me.
