Anyone use budesonide for UC?

I use Entocort, Prednisone and a hydrocortisone enema nightly to control this flare. It seemed to have got it under control within 3 days. No bleeding, No urgency, and formed stools. I hope it continues thru my prednisone taper.

Entocort is really, really, expensive

It has helped me a little. Still not in complete remission though.

I'm on entocort/budensonide, i have a hx of uc skipping throughout my whole colon. Ive been on entocort for about 2 months.  The thing i noticed right away was less bloating and a slight decrease in bleeding, so who knows if it calmed my inflammation down in the middle.

Just had a c scope last week, my colon, except for the last few inches, looked great.  was that from the entocort? who the heck knows?

i just started hydrocort enemas and they are *knock wood* so far working, no blood in 3 days

i was on lialda, entocort and rowasa with still 4-5 bms and small amts blood laced through bm, and unable to get over the hump into remission.

if the hydrocort enemas arn't working for you maybe try rowasa?

 

I forgot to mention I also take fish oil, probiotics, and psyllium seed powder.

I take Budesonide, 3 capsules daily. I was just diagnosed in the end of December 2011, so this and Asacol HD were the first medicines I have been put on. Budesonide has worked wonderfully for me so far. My doc put me on it because he said it was much milder than Prednisone so I guess he was trying to give me the less of all evils, I'm not sure. But if you want my opinion, Budesonide is great (so far). Regarding to someone above who said Entocort was expensive, my doc said it would be if insurance did not cover it, but I got lucky and mine was only $10 for a two month supply.
