Hi,
I was diagnosed with UC January 2012. Am still in a flare, on Prednisone and Apriso. I think I may have yeast. My tongue is yellow and I have symptoms of yeast. I have Boric Acid suppositories for vaginal, however I believe it is in my intestines. I am going to begin VSL 3 today. Anyone have suggestions for alleviating the yeast. I was on Cipro and Flagyl for 10 days while in the hospital.

I usually go for oral Diflucan or generic (usually multiple pills over a course of time if you have a serious yeast issue - at least 2 days in a row). I like boric acid for vaginal yeast but there is no way to use it for other types. Did you buy premade suppositories or did you make them?

The Boric Acid was a compound prescription from my MD. I will look into the Diflucan. I am not familiar with this. Thanks so much for the input!

Ask your doc to prescribe you Nyastin Mouthwash, its used for any type of viral issue in the mouth. Few swishes and swallows a day and your on your way. From what I can remember, its cheap, effective, with no side effects or risks, but once again I'm no doc! But I recommend this, because I had 'thrush' in the mouth just like what you're talking about when first starting out prednisone.

Prednisone can bring out yeast infections...i had more than i care to remember while on pred.
Probiotics can help. Otherwise try antifungals. However i would say treat the infection first with antifungals THEN take probiotics to prevent another one from happening.
