colonscopy 2/16 and GI follow up today
my symptoms: 3-4 bms a day mild urgency and some blood in stool
my colon looked better than last cscope in 2009, patches in my ascending and rectum had cleared up. stubborn 4 inches of my recto-sigmoid area still has inflammation. I thought the rectum was the last to heal? my rectum is fine, lol.
I have basically been in the same flare since August 2008... I could live with how i am now but having this chronic inflammation in your body is bad in the long run right?
Anyway, she is going to wean me off the oral entocort. dont need it, the right side of my colon looks great. Since I have slighty better results wih the rowasa she said i could switch back to the rowasa from the hydrocort enemas (the first 5 days of the hydrocort i though i was in remission, it worked so good then blood again, sigh). stay on lialda. Increased the strength of my prilosec (also have gerd).
she doesn't think that food sensitivity testing is very reliable, but doesn't think thats part of my issues anyway. she doesnt think this one small part of my colon would be inflamed from it. I asked what her other pateints were doing as far as trying different things, she said her patients try all different things, different diets, going organic, gluten free , not eating meat, etc, and nobody is getting consistant results with anything. she did say that i could try going gluten free and see if it did anything. some of her patients have tried it and it helped with their gas and bloating.
She wants me to be part of a drug study for a new drug, Topical Entocort( well entocort is not new but i guess the topical delivery of it is) . It should be starting in a few weeks, I am very interested in trying that, will keep you guys posted...
oh also as of 2/24 went gluten free, not noticing any difference at all yet, but I am gonna give it a whirl and see if it helps. I do feel less bloaty though.....
Question: any way to administer the rowasa to get it a tiny bit further up to the sigmoid or is it already going there????
