Try Entocort? How much is too much Prednisone?

seasons, I don't know what you should do but I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide. Entocort has a lower rate of success from what I know but I understandw anting to try it over pred because of the side effects. I also understand wanting to go with pred, it's a $4 generic here. I think I would do pred over spending a bundle I don't have depending on how severe your side effects were from prednisone. I gained a lot of weight and I don't know if I could do it to myself again but at the same time, spending $1200 I don't have would hurt a lot too. Both options would make me very uneasy. Can your GI get your some samples of entocort? Have you had any bone density scans? You could get one if your insurance will cover it to see where things stand. I also know budesonide enemas are available in other countries, you could probably order them from Canada but if cort enemas aren't doing the trick, I doubt those would work any better. Have you considered FT? How about Imuran? Are you restricting your diet? Does your blood work show increased inflammatory markers? If so, I think Imuran/6mp may be helpful. Of course if you want to go a more natural route, FT or LDN are good options. Just keep in mind that nothing seems to work for everyone. It's easy to forget that LDN isn't a cure-all when you see so many people having success but the reality is, I've seen many people come and go from this board who tried it without success. Have you tried any antibiotics? Have you had stool tests? A couple members had great success with triple antibiotic therapy, that's a treatment I would love to try if I had the opportunity. This is driving me crazy. It's so hard to make all these decisions. I am restricting my diet A LOT since last July. I am a natural type person so I will always do whatever is most natural first. Even if it's difficult. I have no idea how to do fecal transplant and would be scared to do it on my own. I think I'd want a doc to do it. I can order budesonide from CAnada if my GI will fax a script. It's way cheaper there!! My side effect weren't terrible and I am very thin. I'm just afraid more of the diabetes, bone loss and eye problems from Prednisone. I know I need to get a bone density but I want to wait till I meet the dedcutable. I'm spending a ton right now on everything combined. Regular docs, natural docs, supplements, enemas. So much $$. I will have to really consider 6mp soon but I don't want to and I'm so scared of that and the other biologics. I was hoping to exhaust all natural things and LDN first. In addition to many one more course of Prednisone and the enemas. I used to be able taper and have no blood, not this time :( I was only ok for maybe 3 wks.

I wish these drugs weren't so scary. I'm terrible at risk...I worry a lot. Probably what helped bring on the colitis.

I still want to do a stool test, maybe try antibiotics? I've read about berbarine and melatonin helping with UC. Haven't tried those yet. My integrative doc suggested hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Very claustrophobic for me so I havne't agreed yet. Plus the $$. Also I want to try butyrate enemas but haven't gotten anyone to agree to prescribe yet. Sigh.....

Have you thought about using Slippery Elm bark powder?

I take it orally in the evening with probiotics mixed in a little juice and...
Using an online recipe, made up a batch of slippery elm enema mixture.
Keep a container of it in the refrigerator for when I need it.

I ate something that set off a major case of D today. Used some of the enema mix this afternoon and have retained it for at least 4 hours with no more D.

Have had better results with the Starwest Organic powder than with the capsules.
