I had previoiusly posted that paying out of pocket will cost me 1200 dollars for the generic budesonide. Finally convinced my GI to prescribe it (per Skip's suggestion). She said it doesn't always work in proctitis but she is willing to try it. Less side effects than Prednisone. Is this even worth a try? I have found a way to pay for it, but is it just throwing my $ away? Doed this work for anyone with bleeding low in the colon? I have had pancolitis in the past but for many years it is confined to the rectum.
Also how much is too much Prednisone? I was on it IV at diagnosis and tapered at home back in 1999. I think they put me on it maybe 2 or 3x after that. The longest was recently from Sept to early Jan. Should I really be worrying already about osteoporosis and diabetes? Many of my friends with allergies etc seemed to have been on it more than me. It is dirt cheap, so I could do that again. I was going to try the budesonide first because it has less risk. Also Skip from Skip's pharmacy suggested I use it to get things under control while I wait on LDN to work. I started LDN 1/9 orally and switched to transdermal 3 days ago.
I am getting so scared about seeing blood all the time. I have a pretty normal day though. Morning bm is usually formed or semi formed with small to med amt of blood. Many times I dont go again till dinner or later. But then it is more just passing blood and mucous.
I am also on cort emema at night and suppos in the am. No go on any mesalmaine for me though.
