I haven't been on here much because my husband had a total right hip replacement on Feb 28th. He came home a week ago from the hospital. So I've been busy taking care of him. But I have a question...he is feeling better, getting around fairly well with a walker but still can't do stairs fast or very stable. We are having about
15 or so of close friends stopping by tonight for my hubby's birthday. We have two bathrooms, one on the main floor and one in the basement. Seeing since he can't do stairs well, he has been using the bathroom on the main floor.
When he has to urinate, it seems to just strike him and there are times he can barely make it to the bathroom in time (slow going with the walker). Would it be considered rude to ask our friends to use the downstairs bathroom instead of the one on the main floor? Have any of you ever had to ask your friends or family this (when flaring or whatnot)?

I wouldn't say that's rude at all and I'm sure everyone would understand the reason why. Hope you hubby has a speedy recovery! :)

I don't think it's rude either considering the situation. They should thoroughly understand Sherry. I know I sure would.
Wishing your hubby a speedy recovery!!!

Thanks! I lack social etiquette so I wasn't sure if this would be seen as rude or not.

RE his urination urgency: it may be from the catheter during surgery. An older male relative of mine had that last yr & the catheter caused him the biggest post-surgery hassle. Hope your hubby makes good progress; don't worry what anybody else thinks about

I agree about
the catheter during surgery....but he could have a mild urinary tract infection as well. Please consider to have his urine checked just in case. I would think it shouldn't be an issue otherwise.
Happy belated Birthday Mr. "Red"!
Hope you have a smooth recovery.
