Gemcultures.com in fort bragg, california sells kefir grains cultured from the founder of this kefir site http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html ... If you have trouble finding a reliable source of starter I can attest that gem cultures is a great source for around 20.00 or whatever they currently charge. I made some years back but discontinued as in my case either the casein or the acidity of the kefir was just too much for my gut to handle, but it sure was potent stuff.

Hi Jay- I can send you some, but I won't be able to get to the post office 'til sometime this coming week- I don't charge anyone, some have paid me for shipping, but it's really up to you! It's around $5 in those flat-rate postal boxes. Drop me an email with your mailing info. There are also lots of places on the internet, & I think some health food sotres may sell starter kits of dried grains??? That's what I've heard, but haven't seen them myself.
