I had a severe UC flair up last year that hospitalized me, and resulted in me going on asacol for the first time. 4200mgs per day. Having proctosigmoiditis constipation was a very severe problem, on asacol I dont get hard stools anymore. BUT Im dealing with motility problems most days since the hospitalization. Some mornings I need to lay around and relax for a few hours to have 2 BM's .... I take 300 mgs of mag-cit also to keep things on the soft side, so the lack of poop is not from hard stools, but motility, when I wasent on meds my UC was always active and kept things moving... Ducosate seems to help but I dont want to get addicted to it, and loose mussel tone. The ducosate seems to give me a very slight burn in the upper abdomen that equates to a better BM in the morning. If I put fiber into my diet I tend to show blood after a week or so. My system dosent seem to deal with either fibers very well. It sems the bowel works better when Im flairing a little and showing some mucus and blood, but now I have no mucus and no traces of blood (Thank God) but have motility problems... Very frustrating indeed...Any ideas???
