Thanks for posting this.

It's no great surprise to me.

More and more countries who are relying on westernized agra methods of grain-feeding their animal and human populations, the more they're going to see an exponential increase in IBD.

Yes it would be nice to know what the hell was happening. Similar trends in Canada and California, mostly amongst Hispanic children. They think one factor is an increase in immigration. It seems darker skinned children (ie. South Asians in Canada and Scotland) have a higher rate of IBD. They suspect it's partially related to vitamin D but really they really have no idea at this point.

My theory is that there is a UC bacterial bug(s) slowly finding it's way into guts all over the world.

Ever wonder why the dinosaurs died out? I do wonder. They were the dominant life form on this planet for over 100 million years. How long have humans been here? The oldest human fossil (Lucy) is 3 to 3.5 million years and Homo sapiens only 200,000 years. Neanderthals died out early days, wonder if bacteria was the cause.

I think bacteria are the dominant life form on planet Earth. I just hope we humans can co-exist with the bacteria.

Another theory (albeit controversial) is that the introduction of certain vaccines has caused an increase in autoimmune diseases such as the MMR vaccine. Interestingly the MMR vaccine was introduced to Australia for children 12-15 months in 1989.
