Pain For Weeks!

I have used this site once before and got tremendous feedback. I was diagnosed a few years ago with collitus. I have been on Lialda (4 pills), azathioprene (50 mg pills x 3) and that has been for a while now. They have been helping except mornings sometimes which my doc says is common to get going in the mornings. However, like three weeks ago i started to go to the bathroom more often and this time I would get a sudden urge to go and then when I would try it would be hard to go and I would start to get naucious and feeling like I am going to vomit. Sometimes i do vomit sometimes i dont but the feeling is there everytime I have to go which is well above 5 times daily. I contacted my GI and just went in for a flexible sigmoidoscopy and that came out the same as before, no change still inflamed. Im doing a ton of blood work to see if i can go up one more pill for my azathioprene and also getting the paliminary tests done to get on remicade treatments. I have been miserable for weeks now and it wont let up. Has anyone had this before? Is there anything I can do to control this? I know my doc is trying to ge me on the right track but day to day is tough when you feel like this. Any insight would be great. Sorry if there are misspellings as i am posting from my cell. Oh and I forgot to add that a few weeks ago when this started I was put back on prednisone 40 mg tapering down every 5 days with no change at all. Currently I am on 30 mg with no help at all.

It sounds like your doctor is working with you to get this back under control which is good. Were you in complete remission with the Lialda and aza? I ask only because you stated that mornings were sometime hard. When I am in full remission I don't have any symptoms at all.

I think I would ask about rectal meds to add to the aza and Lialda. I also would consider whether you have begun to have a reaction to Lialda. I was on it for almost 4 years and I believe after several years I developed an intolerance to it and it actually made my BM's worse...

Sometimes when I flared like you are I would take Imodium every day for a week and it helped. My doctor also at times would prescribe an anti-diarrhea medication for a week just to help me hang on until other meds kicked in.

To answer I have taken rectal meds with no help at all. I took them a while ago as this is not the first time I have had a spout of this. Honestly I hate taking rectal meds they are so uncomfortable and make me feel well just that, uncomfortable. My collitus is just in the bottom of my intestines i know it wasnt ever and still is not full blown all the way through. My diet really hasnt changed and stress is no much more or less than normal. I work with kids as young as 4 years old day to day so that entails stress all on its own but i have a ton of patience. I have been on lialda for years now as well as aza from the start pretty much as well. Considering mornings were no good for me i would have to say I have not been in remission I was just feeling good. As mornings go before all this started, i would have to go to the bathroom upon waking up and i would go a lot and then pretty much the rest of the day I would be ok. I dont think that is remission but if it gets better than how I was before all this I cant wait to get there and not have to worry.
