why does a med work great for 2 weeks and then stop working???

i was on rowasa for awhile (years) with no more improvement, switched to hydrocort nights and proctofoam days, and for almost 2 weeks i was doing great, did not see blood, did the uc happy dance thinking i was trending upwards towards remission and then boom.... back to blood and  pain ugh for the past week. 

for what its worth,  a few month back i stopped the rowasa, started the hydrocort enemas and for a week or two thought i was heading towards remission, then i went back to the rowasa.

the rowasa probably gets me as close to ive gotten to feeling better (which is 3-5 urgent formed bms with trace blood, but no pain).

why does a med work great for a week or two and then stop???????

would love to hear any input....

nightly rowasa.  i can hold it in all night, sometimes a bit trickles out overnight though.  first 2 bms of the day are coated in white (rowasa i guess), maybe thats been masking the blood?

     Personally, my problem was UP (proctitis).  When first diagnosed, back in 98, I had good results with a 2 month course of prednisone, Asacol and Rowasa. I flared two years later and the doctor switched me from Asacol to Colazal.  I do believe the Colazal kept my ulcerations from traveling further into the colon, but that is only my opinion.  Eventually, all meds failed me, I became prednisone dependent and had surgery in 2010.  I even tried the SCD diet, gluten free, chiropractic and other forms of treatment to avoid surgery.  But, you just know when you have exhausted all your means and your health has deteriorated to the point that I reached, that surgery was the best thing to do.
