Was diagnosed with severe UC in early Feb. Have taken 2 cycles of Predisone and every time I get down to 2 pills a day here it comes again. Was on Budesoide EC for 2 weeks and no relief at all. I just went back to my Dr this morning and he wanted me to consider a clinical study that takes 12 weeks to complete for a new pill that Budesoide has come out with. There is a chance I will get the placebo. I am a little concerned about this I just need REMISSION. Anyone out there ever tried this ?

What else are you doing besides taking prednisone? What about mesalamines, orally and rectally? Prednisone can get you into remission, but you need more than wishful thinking to stay there.

     Sounds better than the suggestion my GI offered me after Remicade and Humira failed.  He said, "We could try placing you in isolation, suppressing your immune system down to zero shocked   and then slowly bringing it back up."  Yeah, you first doc rolleyes !

Sounds like the drug is Uceris, which is formulated to release in the colon and and have little/no systemic adsorption. It may be approved by the FDA in the 4th quarter of this year. Please keep us updated if you decide to participate in the study. Like you, I have a difficult time without prednisone and I'm hopeful that this drug will help steroid dependent UC'ers. To answer your question I am also taking Asacol-800mg x 6 and the dr wrote me a prescription today for mesalamine suppositorie use every morning
