Low levels of Vit.D3 has been linked to many diseases, including but not limited to:
heart disease, congestive heart failure, IBD, and others too numerous to list.
IMO, Vit. D is critical to IBD health, and general health as well.
I was given script by my GP for 100,000 IU of Vit. D3 every 10 days.
Since taking that regimen, my blood levels have increased from a measly 30 to a healthy 67-69.
I did some additional supplementation (on my own with liquid vit. d3 added to my shakes) which my GP was not aware of, and my recent levels came back at 101. And although there can be toxicity levels with Vit. D - that's why it's important to get blood levels before and during supplementation - I have to say, that I've never felt better.
Just to be clear, lest BITW will bite my head off again, I am not advocating anyone take high levels of Vit. D3. But I do suggest you have your levels checked, and follow your doctor's directions. However, you should know that many doctors do not recognize Vit. D3' s importance in IBD health, general health, immune health.
IMO, as always, you must be your own best advocate, and do your own due diligence.
