I wonder how long until this approved for UC?

After getting spontaneous infections of bursa on my elbow and knee while on humira, I get the creeps every time I see a new "-ab" drug.... But I know they are wonder drugs for some.

The nice thing about this drug is it is far more selective in what it blocks within the immune system so it should have fewer potential side effects than remicade and humira. Also it seems to be a lot more effective than remicade judging by the numbers, and can be used by people who stop responding to other biologics. Something like vedolizumab is the next best thing to getting to the actual cause I suppose since it can be effective without compromising your immune system. Hopefully it gets approved soon.

I saw on the bottom of the article it doesn't have PML risk either. When I initially saw the article, the first thing I thought of was PML risk but apparrently there isn't one with this medication. (or so they say...)

I was on the blind trial here in New Zealand for a while then I developed a rash and had to give it up (shame because it worked well and kept me in remission).  It definately does have the PML risk by the way

The expectations are that it should be on the market in late 2013 from what I have read. I'm excited that we have at least 3 new treatments that will potentially hit the market between late 2012 and late 2013. At the very least, it can give us hope that we will keep our colons!

Indycat 23: I know of vedolizumab (Takeda) and Stelara, what's another one?

Levi-I didn't know about Stelera, I'll have to take a look at that one.

The other two are-
Uceris-should be approved in late 2012
Simponi-maybe late 2013

Oh I'll have to look up Uceris. Maybe Stelara isn't being approved for IBD this soon, but I have been reading good things about it.
