I am really enjoying this thread!

Here are a few of my interests:

Reading. I have fallen in love with my eReader. And I never thought that would happen! I love being able to peruse the library's collection from home and download my choices within seconds, rather than travelling to the library and looking through the racks. So easy to bring my eReader with me wherever I go. Easier to read in bed. The only thing it is not good for is reading in the tub.

Photography. I enjoy taking pictures but on a completely amateur level. I really want to take classes to learn more about it. Everytime I find one in my area, the date/time does not work out. The one time I registered for a class, they changed the date and I could no longer attend. Next time I tried to register, they had changed it so that you had to bring your own laptop which I do not have. Guess I'll have to wait now until I can buy myself a laptop.

Hockey. Or as non-Canadians call it, "ice hockey". Love it. We have season tickets to the Canucks and go to many games every year (can't afford to go to every game so we sell the rest).

Cooking. Again, as a total amateur. Meaning, not gourmet, fancy stuff. Just everyday stuff. I love to look for recipes online and adapt them to a healthier version. I mainly like things that I can make a ton of at a time and then freeze lunch-size portions for my husband's lunches.

Fitness. I will never be a candidate for any fitness contests or ironwoman competitions or anything like that, I just try to keep as fit as I can. I try to do some cardio every day along with a non-cardio workout of some kind (resistance training, Pilates, etc).

ahahah hockey and ice hockey. Just had an argument over that here in London with an english guy. I was like Yes hockey.. and he was like field or ice hockey?
I answered is there any other option than hockey on the rink?
He said yes.
I said NOT possible. Void.

Autograph collecting. I have close to 1000 autographs and growing. I get most of my signatures in-person, but I do sometimes by from reputable dealers. It is the greatest hobby. With each encounter there is always a story to go with the sig.

I like to go fishing on my boat and take walks with my wife. She also has become a fisherwoman and comes with me most of the time. I play guitar and also play video games mostly on the computer and oh yea spend alot of time reading here at HW :-).

I love to read, good movies and trips to different State and National parks with my husband and my dogs.
MY favorite place is Black Hills South Dakota. Yellow Stone is a nice place to visit too.

Fun thread:

All the campers: I live in a small country, but by the time I was 5 years old I could boast that my parents had taken me to see all 22 of our states. We would travel around in our VW camper. Awesome memories! I hope your families have them as well.

I love to cook: I just finished making home made peppermint patties, as I can't get them here. I'm currently hooked on Pinterest.com, where I've found some awesome recipes. All you crafters, check out that site, it's great.

I also love to read. I'm re-reading the Amy Tan novels (Joy Luck Club, Bonesetters Daughter, etc.). I read the first two Hunger Games, but found myself so depressed I couldn't read the third :( I love to read my Bible, as long as I'm doing it in a guided study. Helps me to learn more, and apply it to my life.

Stereo: thanks for being specific about your music. I'm going to check it out :)

Jimbo, I live in Connecticut, USA. I like to take my bass boat fresh water bass fishing and then take my 20' Grady White salt water boat fishing in Long Island sound mostly for flounder (fluke) and porgie and striped bass. You like to fish yourself Jimbo?

Elephant you mean the UP of Michigan? If so my Dad is on his way there as we speak for his yearly trip to his cottage. I have to go there someday I hear it is Gods country up there so to speak..He is heading to the channel islands area..( Les Cheneaux )..

I'm from MI too and the UP is gorgeous! I love going up there :) And yes it is God's country - trees, trees and more trees. Oh and moose and deer....lots of deer!

twiggs, yes! I loooove it up there. The Great Lakes are amazing. I would love to go to Isle Royale some day. I've wanted to ever since I was little. I also want to go to the Porcupine Mountains.

Oh, I forgot to say, another hobby of mine is languages! I'm majoring in Chinese and German, and now I'm learning Cherokee, which I've always wanted to learn, and I finally found a class. =)

And fishing. I don't know if I said that. XD

Jimbo, I started Four Fires last night! really looking forward to it. I think Humphrey Bower reads all of Courtney's books. He is fabulous! I highly recommend you try one of his books this way. Do New Zealanders (I assume that's where you are) have that wonderful accents too?

Jano, please share some of your acquisitions. I once had a hockey stick with Wayne Gretzky's signature on it. Back from his Jr. hockey days. Too bad I lost it...major FAIL!

Hi Lodi,

I'll see if I can find a BC audio book.  Thanks for the tip. I hope you enjoy The four fires  - i've read it twice and really enjoyed it both times.

Aussies tend to have more of a twang in their accents than us Kiwis.  If you want to hear a Kiwi accent then I suggest watching 'Flight of The Conchords' it's a bit softer but we tend to confuse other nationalities with our vowels and also clipping the ends of syllables.  The Brits and Aussies enjoy making jokes about New Zealanders pronounciation (amongst other things) lol.

Twiggs that's great re the bass and flounder fishing.  I'm a novice but my good friend has a 18' that we take out in teh Hauraki Gulf in Auckland NZ we generally catch snapper which range between 1 to 2 feet and are good fighting and great eating. We also catch the odd kawhai (sea trout) or John Dory.  It's great fun.  Not a cheap hobby but man you can't beat fresh fish.

Elephant, wow thats great with the languages and sounds like alot of fun. I know some French from high school and a friend of was born French Canadian whos parents spoke both. I bet the fishing up in the UP is really good also...

Jumbo, I so wish we had grouper here to catch! I am jealous and yes your right they are great eating and a fun fish to catch. I did some fishing for them in Florida a few times so I have some experience catching them and yes they do get really big..

Jimbo, I LOVE Flight of the Conchords. And I love NZ accents, too.

twiggs, it is fun. Especially the Cherokee. I really like the sound. I also have a French Canadian friend. Maybe I'll pick up a little here and there. The fishing up north is good. I just wish I had a canoe or something.
