Pain Relief from Joint Pain?

Having a ton of achy pain expecially in my wrists.  Since we UCers can't take Ibuprofen, what do you do?  I'm taking Tylenol but it does nothing and I'm afraid of blowing up my liver.  Any suggestions?

My UC is currently in a long-time remission (Knock on Wood and Praise the Lord!).

Though it can create a fishy Bo/breath issue, on days when you will not be interacting out of the home close to other people, you could try slathering DMSO (dont use stronger than 70% DMSO) gel - or a roll on liquid- on and around the joint- google DMSO and pain and you will see what I am talking about. I evenuse it during bad flares on my belly and it definitey helps a little bit in reducing inflammation. Gels and roll on DMSO are available at health food stores- though for legal purposes they have to still be marked as for use only as a solvent.

I was diagnosed with undifferentiated pancolitis about 1.5 years ago and have been on two rounds of pred since then. Taking raw milk and cutting out all other dairy has helped my joint pains a lot. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence showing the curative properties of raw milk, and scientific evidence is beginning to emerge as well. Of course, some would say raw milk is risky. Then again, it's considered safe for human consumption in the EU. I did my research and decided to try it from a source that others have been drinking from for a long while. I'm not suggesting that you should try it without consulting your doctor, but just letting you know what has helped me.

Sulfazine has worked really well for my joint pain (a GREAT side effect, LOL) but has given me headaches (which are very treatable with tylenol) and it has also lowered my platelets a bit. Nothing to really worry about, but it's something my GP noticed at my annual physical. I also can't drink red wine anymore (I get a headache while drinking it) which is pretty sad, but I'm ok with it because my hands don't hurt.

Quincy, why do you say that you have to drop the apriso to take sulfazine? I take 1.5g sulfazine and 3g balsalazide daily.

Hey BumTum, I've had really bad localized joint pains in and out of my body for the past 2 months, and I could never reach a conclusion as to where they were coming from. After meeting with my doctor he told me to specifically cut out all trace amounts of gluten, and recommended I supplement with Zyflamend.

Its a natural anti-inflammatory that contains lots of herbs and some vitamins that I believe have stopped my pains! I was in hell for a good while, but after taking the supplement, uplifting myself spiritually, and adjusting my diet, I've had no more pains.

I have had UC sense 1991 and have been in and out of remission many times. I've been on many different medications over the years and have finally found a good balance between diet and an assortment herbal supplements. At present I'm not taking any RX (thank God). Approx a year ago I started having continuous joint pain in my toes and hands that I could not seem to get relief from with Tylenol. I'm trying to avoid any prescription meds at this point and have been been doing quite a bit of research on what alternatives are out there. Started taking a product that has the highest concentrate of manosteen I could find. I'm on day 54 and happy to report the joint pain/stiffness has noticeably subsided. Whoo Hooo
