Hi ya,
I have been on a low carb diet for about 2 and a half
years. I am a lot stricter than the SCD diet, and my ultimate goal is to
eventually get onto that diet. I have got rid of all sugars that means honey
and any kind of fruit except 1 apple a day. For me it seems that if I went on
to the SCD diet I would have to use the medications as well, which is something
I have been considering lately because being on my diet is soo soo hard.
I eat 4 eggs in the morning, cashew nuts in the afternoon,
1 green apple, meat and veg for lunch and then meet and veg for dinner. I have
not cheated on this once in the 2 and 1/2 years I have been on it. I am small
so I can get away with not having many calories.
My symptoms that I have improved are at present:
No bleeding
No joint pain
Improved tiredness
less mucus ( i still get a little but at least it does not
go in my pants anymore, gross i know)
I have had green mucus, which I have not seen again
stomach pain and urgency ( I started to get that after my
last flare in 2009)
fever (have not had that burning hot fever since 2009)
normal iron ( i have never been anaemic but my iron has
been low)
normal t-cell count- that was raised in 2009
I used to get heart palpitations which I thought were
panic attacks, but since doing this I have not had them
weight balance- my weight felt like it kept dropping, and
I felt no matter what I ate I could not gain any. I was around 95lb and now I
am 105lb-107lb (I am 5 foot 1 inch)
I still get,
a little mucus
I did have 1 flare 3 weeks ago which took me out for a
couple of days. (so I am not perfect) (no bleeding though, thanks god)

Restaurants I have to be careful if I want to go out to eat
I have to call ahead and only have plain meat and veg, boring I know but that
is the only way I can do it.
Hope this story is a help. I dont use any meds at the present.
