where are the moderaters? delta force rule #6 say's this forum is not for political dscussion, I sign on to get health info not to hear about Obama's sorry but
In my opinion, this was a forum relevant policy issue that is unfortunately currently in the political spotlight.
I think that discussing/advocating/wishing-for a policy landscape (or national healthcare system) where a chronic condition and staggering personal health costs were not two sides of the same coin is board relevant - although not the focus of the board.
The idea could have been expressed in terms of healthcare solutions that manage costs and somehow negotiate the issue of pre-existing conditions - without mentioning a particular name or a particular law. To this extent I take your point. The idea expressed could have been that some solution/reform/change (of whatever form) relieve UC patients of this lifelong fear and burden.
That might have been wiser. It would have been more issue-focused (i.e., the cost burden for UC patients) and less about
a particular man and a particular law/solution to the problem. After all various opponents make general affirmation that when removing this particular law, they would replace it with something else that provided equivalent solutions. Personally, I am not sure that is possible, but the point is the "problem" does not go away, and it is relevant to the quality of life of UC patients, and it is especially relevant to a thread on insurances and eligibility.
You could have posted a more rational plea to keep focus on the problem (i.e., insurance, cost, and pre-existing conditions) and not one man, one law, or one election. You could have expressed some empathy for the very real fear (financial ruin) that the poster was raising, even as you suggested we avoid framing it as political. Instead you chose to be the aggrieved party. You scream "foul", you call for moderators, and otherwise act as if a blatantly political post with no relevance to the board or thread topic had been made. IMO, it is you who thus make the thread much more shrill, partisan, and political. It is you who place these complaints and tactics over the very real concerns and fears of UC patients and other posters on the thread. In fact, even while complaining that the original post veered too much from issue to politics, you proceed to commit the same offense by pairing "Obama" and "sorry butt" - how is this anything other than your own political opinion? Should we call down the moderators on you?
So, I accuse you of acting badly in this matter, and doing so for purely political reasons. I ask you to take a look at the plank in your own eye before turning to the spec in another persons.
Shame on YOU golden years. Any legitimacy to the issue you were raising is swamped by the ugliness of you partisan posturing/attack.
