Well, I got to see my new dentist at end of hygiene office visit. I asked about the remaining timetable for my dental implant. She said that after the oral surgeon places a "healing abutment" on the rod I will need 3 sessions with her to deal with the crown. So the whole process should be behind me by Thanksgiving! (sigh) But better late than never ... How did your consult go? / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Yea all done for the holidays. I won't be so lucky. I had to do the yucky impression and now don't even go back till Sept 7 (I had hoped early August) to have the two rods implanted. I think if I remember correctly I will have a followup a week or two later and then not see them again till after the new year. At that time I think they do another impression and I will go back in a week or two to have the crowns put on. But who knows they seem to be doing things differently this time. Such a long process and I'm hoping none of my other root canals decide to fail on me. I don't want to have to do this again for a long time.

Amen! The oral surgeon told me the process only moves along quickly in cases where a long rod can be implanted. (Probably cases involving a young, athletic, super-healthy guy with great jawbones!) And since we're getting up there ... heh, heh ... (especially yours truly!) we don't have great bones or heal as fast. / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
