I just completed a 6-wk steroid treatment (prednisolone and NOT prednisone, or are they the same thing? I once heard that prednisolone is equivalent to the US cortifoam? Not sure how true that is....). I started out with 30 mg daily and everything went smoothly (my doctor gradually tapered from there). I only had BMs once a day and no blood and only hard stools. I also ate anything I wanted to eat, which was perhaps the dumbest thing I've done.
So, my question is....since I got off the steroids, I bleed every time I have a BM and it's pretty bad....but I didn't bother calling my doctor (last I've seen him was 2 weeks ago and I'll be seeing him tomorrow). The strange thing is, I don't have diarrhea (but am gassy only when I have a BM) and have very hard stools which are almost hard to get out, and I don't feel weak or tired from all the blood loss. However, I did end up with a fissure (?). Is it possible to have so much blood come out even though you're having hard stools? It can't be from the fissure, can it? Is this considered a flare? I only have BMs about 4 times a day.
I'm also wondering how often do you contact or call your doctors for your UC? How often are your appointments? I know it would depend all on how bad your symptoms actually are, but I'm just wondering. Also, I tend to talk a lot to my doctor giving him my update on my status and sometimes my explanations tend to get very detailed about being gassy and all the poop stories....etc....the list goes on, but I'm wondering how you guys are with your doctors.....I apologize for asking really ridiculous questions, but I'm just curious.
