And its spread, doc says 50cms. how far is that?
i watched the whole thing. it was the coolest thing.
felt sorry for my poor bowel though. it didnt look well at all. all covered in mucous and bleeding. big red angry patches that prob are the ulcers. doc says i have to moderate to severe uc now and will need to go to the top end of meds for a year and go from there.
So im getting blood work done for Remicade.
Nice to be home and eating again after yesterday. tongue

Glad everything went well. Although the results are not good.

I'm not quite sure how far up 50 cm go. I had my GI explain it to me how far up it went and for me it was all the way up to the descending colon.

I hope Remicade will work for you. Did wonders for me.

  50cm is the rectum and the whole sigmoid.

Nope, 50 cm is higher up than sigmoid-- probably somewhere around the splenic flexure, where transverse colon bends to the left. So your descending colon would definitely be involved. Did you see gray spots on the red patches? Those are the ulcers. Take it easy for at least a few days post-scope. Also hope you'll soon get a med that works ... / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

old hat, more cream than grey, and i saw little white pimple things everywhere. do you know what they are?
where transverse colon bends to MY? left so is that the bit going down my left hand side?
really enjoyed the meal although felt yucky after. queezy. should really eat lightly but i was ravenous.

50 cms is only just under 20 inches. It would be rectum and all of the sigmoid.

My UC was 15 inches, rectum and into the sigmoid

I would question how much more yours has progressed, or does he mean in degrees of severity?

OR does he mean it's 50 cms more than previously? then it would be as Old Hat states.

yeah must mean 50cm more. cant remember my 1st scope results that clearly or whether they stated how far it went.

"Little white pimple things" are probably pseudopolyps-- projections of inflamed tissue that will hopefully go away when you get the right med. If doctor said you had proctosigmoiditis last yr and it has spread, then it would be to your descending colon which is right above the sigmoid. Exact measurements are relative among patients as not everyone's colon is the same length. I do know that when I had 45 cm of inflammation it had gone upward into my descending colon, but was still below the splenic flexure. So it sounds like you have left-sided UC rather than pancolitis. / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

 Rectum is approximately 10cm ,the sigmoid colon is approximately 40 cm ,the equals 50cm. So hopefully it didn't spread that much for you since it was in the sigmoid already. Good luck with the treatment!

notsosickgirl,

I opted out of the sedation as they said they were only doing a left sided scope. they went the whole way to a corner and once past the corner it looked healthy. my butt aches something serious. i watched them nip of the biopsies and watched blood fill the space. it was brilliant but i imagined i felt the pinch of the wee grabbers.

Everyone else, im pretty sure it has spread from last year because my symptoms are totally different.
I went from 1bm a day with B+M to (upto) 14 BMs a day some formed mostly diarrhea all with B+M.

should i be worried, they looked more grannular than inflamed tissue. the nurse just hunched and said it just part of "it".

Im 30 centimeters up and I know they go until the sigmoid on my scopes. Doctor told me it included my rectum a caressed a bit some of the sigmoid.

Juju, you're right, pseudopolyps also look granular. They are the result of inflammation, but can fade away with effective medication. RE sore bum: try zinc oxide ointment for exterior & "cheeks". / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

we call it sudo cream or nappy cream. always good to have some of it about.
