A couple questions:
Are you still on prednisone?
The bar comes in two flavors. Which one do you think worked better?
100mg prednisone contributed to a stroke in 2010 - Sagittal sinus thrombosis.
I was paralyzyed on the right side and in the ICU which cost me $64,000 so I will never take prednisone again. Its simply a matter of survival.
I recovered 150% and the only thing I cannot remember are my former limitations.
Prednisone can jump start you out of a flare very quickly so I do not mean to say nobody should take it. However take it for the full duration or the flare will come back later in the year and prednisone wont help you. Your body makes 8 mg of prednisone ( coritisol ) per day, you can chop from 100 to 50 or from 30 to 15 but when you get near 8 you need to cut the pills with a razor and ride the brakes. I have had adrenal shock from trying to get off too quickly. It causes me to lose 50 lbs of muscle - I hate it. Everyday you can see people here asking for help because below 10mg their symptoms returned. That is is the simple reason why, abrupt chop below the 8 mg line, let the body ramp up its own production by descending slowly.
I do not think either flavor matters. I know that chocolate goes well with a bit of coffee. Coffee has some health benefits but is generally bad for UC so I think 1/3 cup with a bar is wonderfully balanced and I enjoy it.
The apple flavor does not go well with anything I can think of. It is a nice change from the chocolate. Its like owning both a snowboard and downhill ski's to keep the game exciting.
Try 1/4 of the bar and a full glass of water. Do not take any more until you see how your body reacted. For me its all good and I finally regenerated enough healthy bacteria that I began to get a little gas so I am reduced now to 1/4 bar per day. Imodium is removed. Librax is taken only if I remember.
I also continue to sautee cabbage in olive oil with chopped chicken or steak in low sugar spaghetti sauce and my daughter and I love making it and eating it.
I am still taking 1 VSL#3DS per day with wallaby yogurt. I take curcumin for UC and as a blood thinner. I take a multi-vitamin. I can drink a bottle of tequilla every night and this regimen continues to improve me.
This is the new enzyme formulation I am taking when I remember before meals.
pureformulas.com/digestmore-135-capsules-by-renew-life.htmlI really hope this helps others, I have remedies that beat flares but nothing has worked this fast in my life.
To be sure I could keep working, stay healthy I went gluten-free. Someone pointed out the bars have wheat. But I no longer eat 5 loaves of bread per week because who knows, maybe I am temporarily gluten-sensitive in the way we become lactose-sensitive during flares.
Stacking the odds in my favor.
