Fennel tea

A quick search on amazon.com revealed a lot of fennel tea options- so online would seem to be the answer. I used to love fennel tea in my pre-UC days. Old Mike came across some articles from pubmed linking it to anti-inflammatory qualities (though, to be sure, that is true of almost any herb in my experuence, 99% of which do. Othing fir me or make things worse), but it is also noted to increase motility, which for me woukd make it a non-starter.

Do the phoning to your local health food/nutrition stores. They'll hopefully have fennel tea. If they don't, purchase fennel seeds and steep them yourself.

Hi! I am new here . I have had IBS ever since I was young ( soon to be 63). I didn't know anything about IBS until I had my first child . I had constipation for years . After I had my two children it change to diarrhea . After a few years it was a combination . I had to have my gallbladder taken out and now I definitely have the diarrhea with cramping and everything , and in my family we are prone to nausea .
I like to try to use natural things . My youngest son has Gerd and his girlfriend has ulcerative colitis . I have been using fennel for a couple of weeks now . I was just checking up to see if Fennel could help my son and his girlfriend . What I have been doing is buying fennel at a big box store , I grind it up in my coffee grinder and I make my own capsules of fennel . I got tired of trying to make the tea in a hurry because I was feeling so bad . I have a tendency to feel a little bit nauseous when I first wake up so I have been taking one of the capsules and I have not been nauseous . I take a fennel capsule before I eat and I have not had any cramping and not very much gas at all for the last two weeks while I was taking it . I also take it when I go to bed to help me through the night . When I was drinking the tea I would put the fennel seeds in one of those 'loose tea' things, or in a red plastic re-usable coffee pod.
I just wanted to share that . I hope that it helps somebody . But now I have to try to convince my son and his girlfriend to try it. Lol

I have to admit that I have tried chewing fennel and did not like it too much. LOL
