Today my whole body aches - just every single muscle feels worn out and I'm so tired!  I had a pretty normal BM this morning (other than some of the enema from last night mixed in).  Could this be the Imuran or Prednisone?  My muscles were pretty achy last night as well, and I didn't go to the gym last night as usual.  I've been having just achy pains in my left and right abdomen and a usual sharp pain on and off in the lower groin which I thought was an injury. I"m getting blood tests tomorrow to check my gallbladder, pancreas, etc just to make sure nothing weird is going on. I had an MRI Enterography a few weeks ago and all came out fine in my colon other than the usual inflamation in the lower 1/2.

I used to always feel like once these muscle aches and tiredness came on it meant for sure I was going into a flare. But can the medicine just cause this too? I"m hoping so!

Pred made me hurt alot when I was on it. Hope thats the reason for it and not the beginning of a flare.

Prednisone has definitely made me hurt before...this would be especially true if you are tapering.

The weird thing is I've been on the same dose for 1 1/2 months. I did finally go down to 10mg this morning (from 15mg) but I won't feel the effects of that till tomorrow likely.  Hoping I don't flare from tapering finally after all this time.  I expected to feel achy once I started tapering but it seemed weird to just feel it after being on the same dose for so long.  I went to a cardio class tonight and feel so much better - hoping I don't feel worse tomorrow!

I had horrible aches all over my body while flaring, whether on the pred or not, didn't matter. The only thing that would make it better was having a long hot shower.

I mentioned this to my GI and she was like "??" I also mentioned it here before and very few people responded. I think some of us just get it. I think it has something to do with not absorbing nutrients properly, but that's just my theory.

The pain went away once I achieved remission though.

I don't think it has to do with not absorbing nutrients. I think it has to do with the fact UC can cause extraintestinal symptoms of inflammation elsewhere in the body...so you can get arthritis-like symptoms during a flare. This has happened to me too to a mild degree and I also get the insane tiredness. Exercise does seem to help me too, MNBeachGal.
