Colonoscopy results

Biopsies came back today indicating there were ulcerations on my ileum. Doesn't mention anything about deep layer penetrations of the bowel lining but my G.I seems to think what I have is probably a mild form of crohns at the moment.

He originally was going to prescribe me Salofalk granules but when I mentioned Pentasa he decided to use Pentasa instead. 1g tablets, 3 times daily but i'll probably start off with once in the morning and one at night for a week or so. Will get a kidney function test in about 3 weeks to see if there are any effects from the oral mesalazine.

Hopefully my stools will look a bit healthier with this oral medication and hopefully I don't get any of the side effects from Pentasa that are mentioned on these forums! O_O

Yes, that's true...it's all relative to how one's disease extent/severity is and how it's treated. Hopefully, no side effects from the meds.

One positive, you started on the orals once you found out cecal involvement...

Now is better, and the Pentasa lower dosage is a good start.

Yes, I agree severity is a big factor in deciding whether UC or Crohns is worse.

kazbern: that's great! Congrats! So happy for you! Thanks for keeping us informed. Nothing more satisfying (and relieving) knowing that your intestines are healthy as ever. Hope you continue to have a life long remission. I definitely hope the Pentasa will help me get there too.
