Elevated lipase and amylase levels?

Has anybody ever had these pancreatic enzymes tested? I had mine tested last week and both were a little high.  The nurse practioner I saw in my primary care office doesn't seem to care and told me my GI can figure out what it means. Clearly this nurse practioner isn't very helpful.  I've told them to fax the results to my GI, hopefully they can at least handle faxing it but i'm sure I'll need to nag them.

I'm wondering if anybody else has had these levels elevated and had nothing wrong?  I have been having some slight upper left abdominal pain and it hurts a little to touch my abdomen there. The nurse practioner just brushed it off as an injury as she said if I had an issue with my pancreas I'd be going to the emergency room in pain.  Is this true, or can you have an issue and just have slight on and off pain in the abdomen?  I'm still in a flare-up now too although never really had pains in that area before with my UC flare-ups.

 

I'm kind of worried about it. I asked my primary care office to fax it today, but they aren't very reliable.  I'm hoping my GI doctor will be able to look at it.  I don't know what I'll take if have to stop the Imuran because I really need to get off the Prednisone. But I don't want to end up damaging my pancreas either. I'm worried the longer I wait to get this taken care of the more damage is being done!

I read Prednisone can affect your pancreas too?  Of course the only way to know what it is will be to stop the Imuran I'm sure and see if that helps it.  Hopefully I'll be off the Prednisone in about another month.
