Thanks. Asked my doctor and he said it could be water retention or actual weight gain from increased hunger (and eating) from the steroid enemas. I'm just super bloated...maybe it is just water.

When i taper off hyrocort enemas my symptoms return. Ive been on them two months now. How long can i stay on them safely? I was on nightly for a month...im now down to every two nights.

Are you using mesalamine enemas on the nights you aren't using the steroid enemas?

No i havent gone back to them yet. Im so sick of sticking crap up my ass. Lol

I'm sure you are. But my guess is they'll at least help you get off the steroid enemas -- I know it's safer to be on rectal steroids than oral, but I don't think it's good to be on them long-term, either.

Ok thanks. I just feel like i'll flare again since the rowasa stopped working for me. I was on them nightly before going on hydrocort and they werent helping so how will they help now? I dont understand how UC works. In the past all i ever had to do was increase my rowasa. I felt perfect on the nightly hydrocort. Ive never felt that good since i got UC 5 yrs ago.

Well, maybe it just took the hydrocort to get the inflammation under control and now the rowasa will help keep in in check? I don't know. I'm just guessing too.

Are you on regular Asacol or Asacol HD? Maybe raising your dose of that would help, too.

No prob. :) i wish i had never taken cymbalta in january. Only took it 5 days but my UC has never been the same since.

I feel like the hydrocort enemas are way harder to hold in than rowasa. Instead of hurting for one minute its uncomfortable for 5-10 minutes. Sucks.

Scratch the brownies & try a low-residue diet for a week to see if that helps. It sounds like you have some irritation/inflammation if the hydrocorts are hard to hold in. Did you take Cymbalta for lower back pain? / Old Hat (32 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

They were always hard to hold in even wheni had zero symptoms.

No i was prescribed it because i couldnt concentrate at work and she wouldnt give me a stimulant.
