Last night I tried my second butyrate + glutathione suppository. For those not familiar, my naturopath recommended this suppository, and although a little pricy, the effects are promising.
"butyrate is the preferred source for energy metabolism in the colon. butyrate production may also be responsible for the anticancer properties of dietary fiber. butyrate has been shown to possess impressive anticancer activity and is being used in enemas for ulcerative colitis"www.naturalpedia.com/butyrate.htmlBut two nights in a row, after about
5 minutes of inserting them, my stomach would drop, and the first night I just couldn't hold it in and had to empty my bowels. The next morning wasn't any better! But last night I tried to hold it in, and was able to, but man... I haven't experienced that type of stomach discomfort since last year maybe!
I emailed my doc to ask about
the side effects, wondering if its normal to experience this? No reply yet. And of course its a weekend. It's almost like my body is completely rejecting this foreign substance, event though alot of those with colitis can benefit with SCFA based supplements.
So confused. So tonight, I decided to use a Canasa suppository. No side effects with these, other than 'wet gas' type of feeling.
