Is carageenan labeled as such on the label of whatever foods/drinks it's in?
I'm pretty sure it always says carageenan. The only thing I've seen differently is on a tube of Tom's toothpaste that also included the scientific name of the plant that's used to make it. But it said "carageenan (
Scientific name)."
It seriously annoys me how much stuff it's in -- I had a heck of a time finding regular (ie, not low-fat) buttermilk and heavy cream that doesn't contain it. I mean, there's NO REASON for it to be in that stuff. I get why food manufacturers think it needs to be in the low-fat versions, to provide some "heft." But not in full-fat versions!
