How bad were you bleeding? Was it only on the stool or was it dripping in the toilet? The main reason I ask is because most biopsies are pretty accurate (tho there has been some confusion with our members in the past). If you were actively flaring with an IBD, obviously it would've shown up on the scope, however if you were only mildly flaring with no visible ulceration, some damage would still show up on the biopsies.
So perhaps there is a slight tear and you have IBS? Polyps are not just for people with intestinal issues, it can occur in the general population so you can't use that as your ruling mark. Btw, I've had Uc for 20 years and I have never had a polyp.
If you have colitis (which can occur from various sources) with slight tearing, that is a possibility as well. Either way, Apriso is designed to reduce inflammation in the large intestine.
Have you tried a high fiber diet yet? I can't say this for all of us, but usually a high fiber diet makes us worse but it makes IBS better. So if you were to try a high fiber diet and you get better, than more than likely you have IBS.
Did the doc say he wanted to do a follow up c-scope anytime soon?
