Hi All! I had surgery on Tues., sept 4th and was discharged on Sat. No more UC!
The first night was tough as the post-op docs screwed up my pain management. I was to have both Morphine and Emprodurum (sp?)but only got one or the other at too low a dose! I managed through and luckily the Anesthesia Doc came to my rescue. she gave me an 18 hours Morphine type and it did the trick. She said she got o know me wile in the operating room :).
I'm home now on pain killers but everyday is getting easier. It's good to be physically fit before the operation. Good Hamstrings and core muscles are a must to getting around. I don't mind the bag. It's a lot easier to drop, drip, clean, and go! It is a bit odd as I feel I'm facing my butt and I fart forwards now :).
Hope everyone else is managing their condition. Be glad to answer any questions!

Congrats! Have you gotten used to not running to the restroom yet? Every time I felt anything move in my digestive system it was like my body was on alert
to run to the bathroom!!

When I learned you were having the same surgeon who performed my total colectomy with end ileo, I knew you were in good hands. Wishing you continued good health and speedy recovery!!!

I hope you recover quickly!
Do you have an ostomy now? Will you get some sort of pouch?

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! This surgery did knock me on my ass but is still worth it as I ran out of options! I'm hoping to be one of those success stories and run a 10K soon!
