feeling better, more mucus?

So I am down now to going anywhere between 6 (at the most) to even 2 or 3 times a day. For some reason, I often see the most "red" on my usual late night BM... Even when it is followed up by something normal looking the following morning.

And last night I saw a fair amount of mucus also. Why would I be seeing more of that, when Im apparently improving greatly? Could it be that I am just regenerating more mucus as part of the healing, and therefore am passing a little more? Maybe I have just stripped my mucus over the last few months, and am just getting it back?

I would say as things heal, the mucosal layer creates more mucus.

With a firmer stool, more mucus seems happen even if there's a very mild amount of inflammation...or if there's increased activity (which I think happens with firmer stool and possibly IBS added to the mix.

I see it as a good thing....eventually, it'll level out, or at least for me and others it seems to.

again..what meds are you on?

Are you using fibre supplements and probiotics?

asacol, ldn, no real probiotics currently, and occasional psillium seed. Dont really need the fiber yet but soon likely.

I was experiencing the same thing. I wasn't having any blood or diarrhea and was having formed stools about 2-3 times a day on the average. On top of that I would have urgency, gas and lots of mucus another 4-5 times per day. This was after improvement. I think there is more than one thing at work in the whole process. Some of it has to do with stool formation and some just has to do with our immune systems attacking our colons, or something in our colons, causing inflammation and mucus. When we have got the stool thing going better our bodies are still causing that inflammation in our colons and producing more mucus. I started taking DGL licorice a month ago and it has GREATLY reduced the mucus. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have done a darn thing as far as frequency.
