Pro: Sorry to here this.
Pain management from the surgery is pretty good,if everything goes according to plan.
My son had an epidoral in his spine, plus a morphine pump.
He experienced little to no pain for the first three days post surgey while the epidoral was still in.
He did experience pain when they pulled the sticky bandages off his butt.
My knowledge is 12 years old ,best current advice on j-pouch.org
Make sure you ask surgeon if he uses seprafilm or whatever new stuff they have today.
They wrap the small intestine in this stuff to prevent adhesions.
Perhaps with lapro they dont even need it,dont know,he had
open surgery.
Lapro much less invasive.
Remember once you do this you can't go back.
Make sure you investigate all the possible complications,in advance so you and the wife
know what you are dealing with, and can make educated decisions,as opposed to just
what the docs might say. If you are not totally functional she must be the patient advocate.
But then again life without UC is much better.
If you want info on the ileus he had, just ask
but you really dont want to here it.
