Frustrated with bleeding

I was in total remission for a few months and overnight I started the bleeding and mucous. I have had proctitis for quite a few years with a very long remission until 2 years ago after taking some antibiotics.
I recently had a colonoscopy and my proctitis is about 5 inches up. My gastro prescribed nightly Rowasa and daily OTC anti-diarrhea meds. The Rowasa worked for a few weeks but now bleeding again for 2 weeks. No oral meds, as I was told they won't reach that low in my colon. No diarrhea, just bleeding when I go 1 or 2 times in the morning.
Of course, my doc is out of town AGAIN, will be back Monday.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry about your recent flare resulting in blood and mucuous.

You don't have a sig, so we don't know exactly which meds you are on.

What about rectal meds, such as mesalamine enemas or canasa suppositories?

Didn't your doc prescribe those?

Yes. I àm on nightly Rowasa enemas.

What about diet?

Have you had your vit. d3 levels checked?

What about doing some supplementation, i.e. slippery elm powder, L-GLutamine amino acid powder?

Are you on any probiotics?

I am taking Saccharomyces Boulardii plus MOS and a Multics vitamin daily.
I eat everything except salads, roughage., nuts., etc. My doc said I could eat anything.
I'm thinking I need a cortemema to stop the bleeding since the Rowasa is not working anymore.

Just wondering, why should I have my D3 levels checked? I had a lot of cramping until I took a Levsin this morning. I did have 2 regular BM's today and one with bloody mucous, but not much. The Levsin saved me today, although it expired 2 years ago. I will have to see what the doc says. Hopefully he will call me.

The reason to have it checked is because there is a big correlation between low vit. d3 and IBD.

So, you might very well be deficient and need supplementation.
