Let me try and make this as simple as I can, because we all know how complicated this disease can be! ... I was diagnosed with UC in February of this year. I was put on Lialda and Predisone. I had an adverse reaction to Lialda and Rowasa therefore those medications are out for me. So for the past 6 months I have been on and off Predisone for bad flares and on 100mg of Imuran for my maintenance drug. A couple of weeks ago I had another colonoscopy to see how things were doing in there. The upper portion of my colon was clear! But my lower portion of my colon still had disease and inflamation. My doctor kept me on 100 mg of Imuran and for the past four days I've been on 100 mg of Hyrdocortisone Enemas. The enema has cleared up any blood or mucas I was seeing before and has allowed for exceptionally formed bowel movements!! ...BUT... Here is the problem: Since my bowel movements have been normal, when I need to go I'm in severe pain, meaning inflamed back, I can feel my colon inflamed and the urgency is pretty bad as well. Have any of you had a road to remission like this? I know the enemas take some time to work and I wanted to know if this bowel movement pain was a normal reaction to finally having normal stools? Any feedback and experiences would help. Thanks! And I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday :) xoxoxo
