Hi. This morning I woke up with severe lower back pain :( I started noticing the pain since July. And now I'm noticing pain in my right wrist, legs, and neck.

Does anyone have suggestions to reduce the pain? Should I invest in a new mattress? The back pain only occurs in the morning.

And how long does it usually take for Proctofoam to stop the bleeding, if it does work? I have used it for 8 days.

Lower back pain and joint pain is probably connected to your inflammatory bowel disease. Getting your flare under control is the best recommendation for relieving this pain. You might also consider talking to a rheumatologist, or tell your GI about the joint pain and talk about sulfazine. This is an old arthritis med that has been used very successfully to treat people whose joints hurt in association with colon inflammation.

I had that with Remicade, it would migrate. Some months back, some ankles, some knees, etc. It stopped when I discontinued Remicade though. Are you on anything like that? Remicade? Humira?

Thank you for the replies. Xeekk, it's good to know the pain travels to different places. I was thinking hard on possible physical activities that may have triggered the wrist and leg pain. Kazbern, I will keep in mind about sulfazine. I don't have insurance right now, so I don't know when I will ask my GI for sulfazine.

I am not taking Remicade nor Humira. I wrote a brief about myself for my signature, but the signature isn't showing up on my posts. I don't know why. I am taking Lialda (4pills), imuran (75mg).

So, the severity of the joint pain reflects the severity of the inflammation? Anyone knows why the back pain is only intense when waking up in the morning?

Sulfazine is a generic medicine. I pay $4/month for my prescription. It does require some follow-up though, blood tests every 6 months or so to make sure you aren't developing issues with it.

The reason your back pain is worst in the morning is probably because it's a kind of tendonitis. Tendons are always most painful after rest. The kind of inflammation that I had in my hands, elbows and wrists is called enthesitis - it's an inflammation where the tendon attaches to the bone.
