OT Pnemonia? Antibiotics and UC

I have been sick with a fever and cough since last Tuesday.  Almost 2 weeks. It's brutal.  My ribs hurt and I think I have a herniated disc so I'm in a lot of pain.  Went to docs 2x.  They thought I had a virus.  Chest was clear and bloodword did not show bacterial infection.  However this is not going away.  My fever goes down in moring..almost normal and rises as the day goes on to a a low grade 99 or 100.

Doc may want chest xray.  Already had a few of these and breast surgeon said to be cautious with them due to radiation.

Didn't do it because most signs pointed to NOT pnemonia.  We could also try antibiotics but I'm so afraid.  After a year of bleeding I am finally not bleeding anymore from UC.  I am still on 2.5mg of Prednisone no other maintenance has worked yet.

I am also freaking myself out that I have some sort of lymphoma from 6mp use.  Please tell me I'm crazy.  I was only on it for 8 weeks. 

I do not usually get chest things. 

What would you do?  Chest xray?  Antibiotics?  Which kind?

Any of you have an similar situation ever happen?

Scared.

I hate to say it but it sounds like you need the antibiotics, especially if you've been sick for 2 weeks AND being on 6mp. Are you on probiotics? If so, you can increase your probiotics while on the antibiotics to help prevent any complications.

As for the lymphoma, I was always scared of that too but it's actually very rare because we are on such low doses.

I'm on my second round of antibiotics in less than a month. First round was for an ear infection and that was 10 days on Ceftin which is pretty hard on the gut. I am currently on Macrobid for a bladder infection. I have tripled my probiotics and so far am doing ok. I have had some increased gas and some mucous but no bleeding. Stool after I got off the Ceftin was a little soft on and off for a week. So far since on the macrobid stool is normal with just the bit of mucous once or twice a day. Oh and I forgot, I got two clindamycin pills when I had my dental implant rods put in. So I've been through hell this month but fairing ok. Except now I have a yeast infection. Yuck.

Thanks guys. I may have to do antibiotics if it ends up being bacterial. I'm just freaked out that I have had a low grade fever on and off for so long. I've never had that. So I'd think maybe bacterial but doc thought viral. I probably have to get a chest xray. Which I hate. I am a radiation phobe. I've had too much already. I just thought if my chest was clear on listening and blood ok that I wouldn't need one.

Have any of you ever had a fever that lasted over a week???

I just finished a 5 day z-pack for a sinus infection. I did have a little bleeding, so I did an enema..now ok. I also doubled my probiotics and ate yogurt. I was really afraid of the antibiotics too, but sometimes you just have to do them..I let my infection go a week and was in debilitating pain. Only you know how much it takes. My doc did zpack b/c he thinks it's the least difficult on the gut. Hope you feel better soon.:)
