46&crashing and BeatUC questions for you about imuran

Hi! I just been reading some of your posts about Imuran (generic AZA) and I'm so encouraged!

I've only been on it for three day. My Diarreah is really bad but hardly any blood which is good.

Some people notice right away it seems with Imuran a good change, others SEVERAl weeks to kick in, can you tell me how quickly you noticed a change?

I will get my blood tested again this week, Thursday.

I started off at 75 mg of imuran then tapered off prednisone rather quickly. After being completely off Pred for about 3 weeks, I flared. Doc doubed Imuran (150mg now) and put me back on 40mg Pred. Only took a week or so to stop the blood. Now I am tapering slowly. I modified my diet and since July I have been so much more normal. I have been able to eat more variety. The other night I ate a handful of Dorritos which I thought would kill me, but it did not.

Bottom line I started Imuran in March and at the end of July I finally had a formed bm. In August I switched from VSL#3 to Ultimate flora 80 which really made a difference.

I feel like I am in remission, but as long as I am taking any prednisone I don't feel I can claim it.
