I have found that it's difficult to get a straight answer about such medical costs, which is a good example of why our medical system's screwed up in certain ways. I had to get a test done last April to see if my body could metabolize Mercaptopurine (6MP). It was supposedly expensive (anywhere from $150 to over a grand), so I tried to find out MY cost BEFORE the test. The lab at the hospital where the blood was to be taken was clueless. Their billing service gave me a different cost every time I called. My insurance company also gave me a different price on several occasions. I was finally told by the hospital's billing service that it would run "about" $250 depending on how much of my deductable I'd met at the time of the test. Well, it's now been about 4 months and I've still not gotten a bill. I'm sure when I do, it;ll be for some higher amount or they'll simply neglect to bill me and just sent it to a collection agency (yes they've been that lame before). You gotta love it...good luck.
