I find when I am starting a flare my skin gets super sensitive. I usually am a bit sensitive and need to use natural products on my skin. However when I am getting ready to flare I get hives from everything! I took a shower this morning and now have hives all over my face, head, chest, arms and back.
Does anyone else have skin issues? I am just curious as UC is an autoimmune disease, does it make your whole immune system a bit over reactive?

UC is an autoimmune disease so that makes sense. I has been proven to effect more than just our colons. Meds are probably a big factor too.

i'm sure the drugs contributed, but the main source of my skin issues was eating grains -
no grains = no itchy !

I've always had sensitive skin and I also break out in random hives. But I think I was born with AI conditions so I believe I am more prone to skin issues.

I've read a lot of articles that say skin issues are a direct result of gut issues. I have rosacea and have done a lot of research on it.

I started getting hives before I was diagnosed with UC. I'm apparently allergic to dust mites even though I get hives even when I am in places where there are no mites. Most of the time its controlled with antihistamines but other times I still break out in some hives. I also tend to just be itchy at times. Would probably be a good idea to see the allergist again but geez I really am sick of doctors.

I don't get hives, but my skin is rather sensative. Some soaps will make splotchy red spots on my skin...but no hives.
I'm not shocked by the hives immune reaction at all though.
