Did you ever get injured by the tip of an enema?

Last Saturday, I incorrectly inserted pentasa enema forcefully and I was injured. Immediately after I had a severe d and cramps that extended to the intestines. I called my GI and he told me I should see the colorectal surgeon. I did and he said I have an accute fissure and prescribed me a cream that includes glyceril trinitrate as one of its components. He decided I stop any rectal meds. This caused me hypotension and I stopped it. I had one of the most painful nights ever. I couldn't sleep coz of the pain. So, I asked to see my GI urgently. He called the surgeon and asked him about my condition and both agreed I should take neither enemas nor suppositories until I see my surgeon on Saturday and I have to apply a new cream and bear up w any pain. My proctitis is horrible, I can't sit coz of pain. My GI prescribed celebrex as a painkiller but things are not good. I was told that if the surgeon approves of my resuming the rectal meds, I will only take suppositories and not enemas. I have a problem w pentasa supp as my colon sees it as a laxative that has to be expelled. Not taking rectal meds for a week made my proctitis worse, swollen and I have watery d. My GI insisted I abide by the orders of the surgeon. Any advice?

Tevia cortenemas are horrible for having sharp pieces of plastic on the tip of a enema. I have went through 2-3 bottles before to find one good tip, then re-use it over and over.

They really are not a very well thought out design are they??? Yes, I've injured myself with them in the past - not to the extent as you though. But enough to scrape a hemmie open (I have internal ones).

I hope you feel better soon but I'm curious, why would the doc give you Celebrex for pain??? Celebrex for one is an anti-inflammatory, and even tho it's one of the better ones for people with an IBD, it can still promote bleeding and D. Plus it can take up to 2 weeks before it reaches it's peak effectiveness.

Why didn't they prescribe you a narcotic pain reliever instead? It might also slow your bowel down a little which would allow you to heal a bit faster.

I had the same experience with the Tevia product.  The nozzle is really poorly designed.  I used to lube the nozzle before I would try.  It helped a little but not much!  Mary

I only had them done in hospital by nurses. I cant hold them in longer than a min but long story short some non caring nurse forced it too fast I ran to the washroom and pooped it out as always but that time there was mucuosu red tissue and blood! That doesnt help does it!

Wasnt really treated sorry to say. I was heavily inflammed at the time which also didnt help. A possibility is tylenol or pain meds, take some before you will be applying and when applying be as gentle as possible. Just a theory though.
