Another Fecal Transplant - wish me luck

I'm going to try Fecal transplant and I will use this forum to document it. Okay, actually today I tried the transplant but didn't use a strainer and so the tubes got clogged and I retained nothing…what a waste of waste ;) Now I have learned my lesson and I'm going to try again tomorrow.


Background: I have only been diagnosed with UC about three years ago. After about 2 years I was able to go into remission (currently in remission) and I have maybe two bowel movements per day. Currently taking Imuran and Asacol. I'm going to try the transplant and then try to get off the medication. Last time I tried to get off the medication I had a flare had to bring it down with steroids.
BTW I don't have support from my GI.

I will not do the antibiotic Tx beforehand because I just came off antibiotics from an illness I had picked up from my daughter. Does anyone know if antibiotics are really necessary ? I'm also not going to do the colon cleanser however I have been cutting back on carbohydrates for about a week now.

So much is so unclear.

You say "medication" but you are on two, that most folks do not start at the same time.

Did yo try to get off Imuran or all medication?

You will never know if this works because if you stay in remission, you do not know if you could not have gotten off Imuran on the 2nd try.

FT is a probiotic therapy. Have you tried oral probiotics?

I wish you luck, but so much is unclear.
