The enemas have weight...60mls. The supps have NO weight...that in itself could be the issue.
I would STRONGLY suggest that as you feel better, you start the enemas again. Since your UC is throughout your colon (original diagnosis), the tendency for things to not be fully covered with oral/supps could set you back a bit.
It's a good strategy to start with the supps, but that will only treat the rectum. It's also good you're on 2 daily.
With the enemas, 4g will give you more bang for the buck, so to say...and you'll get better coverage of rectum/sigmoid. The supps can still be used during the day to help with the urgency/retention because of a more concentrated dosage of med in the lower area.
It's great you're improving...but don't stop there.
Oh, have you tried to possibly use Bentylol (dicyclomine) which is an antispasmodic...about an hour before bedtime to help with spasming and retention.
