Anyone have great success with 6MP after lousy experience on Imuran?

I am probably going to resort to surgery soon, but "it ain't over til it's over" and with my UC mild, but low dose pred dependent to prevent flaring, I still find it useful to bring this topic up again (I know it has been around before, in both directions so to speak).

My "lousy" experience in the past with Imuran was that I developed nasty bursitis in each elbow on separate occasions. This has never hapoened to me other than on this drug, as well as on Humira. On imuran, my blood tests were occasionally slightly hi on RDW but were otherwise normal. I got colds and sore throats quite a bit more often, and when I got them they dragged and dragged. I got more headaches, felt a bit nauseous, and generally much more skeepy and tired than off the drug. It probably damoened my Uc a little bit, but not markedly. I also failed both remicade and humira. It's been suggested that 6MP, by skipping a metabolizing step, might work better but I am very skeptical. Just wondering. Thanks.

I know, I know, somedude- that is what my wife says too, and she is desperate fir me to have the surgery. But I really, really can't get off steroids. I keep stretching it now trying to buy time on the low dose ored but it can't go on forever. I know, in theory i could, and just hooe for the best, butit isnt really an option because I have used pred mostly in low doses for many years on and off. Anyway, looking for an answer on the 6MP thing. I think I already know the answer- if Imuran sucked, and remi and humria didnt work, there isnt really much left as I have tried almost everything. The decision would be cut and dry if my UC was moderate to severe, but it's mild, mild, mild- and yet very life limiting.

The only way to know if 6mp will help you is to try it. More than likely it won't but at least you can say you gave it the ole college try before resorting to surgery.
