I'm new here, but have been a consistent visitor to these forums.
My husband has dealt with UC for a few years now and it seems as though it's seasonal and stress induced.
After being in the hospital for 13 days last year and being told that his colon was the WORST that the GI doctor has EVER seen, we decided to go ahead with the Remicade infusions and a long taper of prednisone to get him back on track.
Well, we are a little over a year since that terrible time and he has done so much better this past year (being on remicade), UNTIL about a month ago he started experiencing symptoms that felt as though they were leading up to a bad flare; abdomen pain, loss of appetite, little to no stool but constantly visiting the restroom, gas, fatigue. We started 2 capsules of mastic gum in the morning along with a probiotic and it has made all the difference. Within two days of taking mastic gum and probiotics his pain had subsided and his stools have reformed. Whether it was the supplements that helped or not, i'm just thankful to have him feeling well again!!
I also found something called SeaCure and we will be trying that. I'll be back to post a review on how he does on it.
