I have a bad back from lifting items the wrong way. Went to a chiro who initially made me feel better, not 100% better but he wanted to set me up with a bi weekly visit schedule, for 2 months. Insurance didn't cover my visits either, each time I'd come back, he'd shake his head asking what in the world had I been physically doing to make my back go out of alignment, etc. I said - walking the dog, household chores, laundry, weeding. After a while I knew the schedule wasn't necessary, he just wanted to make $ off of my gullibility. Long story short, I googled chiros and what could go wrong. One story was frightening, a lady went for a back adjustment but the chiro cracked her neck, releasing a blood clot. The clot took a while to form and travel, the lady wasn't feeling well and stopped for bottled water, she couldn't even get out of the car, she was lying prone across the car seat until someone saw her and called 911. I believe she had the clot busting drug to reverse the damage of the stroke but she ended up suing the chiro for causing the stroke.
All I know is, I'll never be that gullible again. I'll never see a chiro.
Also this chiro told me how messed up his own body was. Why? He said when in training, they all practiced on each other and all of them had messed up bodies. That's a ringing endorsement? Yes I know I should have RAN on the spot from that office. He did say - don't worry, practice makes perfect, we practiced on each other so we could perfect our techniques on patients.
Well, that's my 2 cents.
Madpotter - I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's stroke.
