Remicade question

Are you doing the loading infusions?  I think mine was the second after 2nd weeks, the 3rd a month later and then 1 every 8 weeks.  I responded pretty quickly to Remicade until developing antibodies to it.  Other people that I met at the infusion clinic didn't seem to benefit from it like I did.  I'm guessing maybe 50%?  Mary

 

i saw marked improvement after my 1st infusion....BUT i was also on about 30mg of prednisone at the time...and also taking 6mp.

I just had my 2nd infusion 1.5 weeks ago, down to 10mg prednisone and I feel about 95% normal. Normal formed BMs about 1x/day, no urgency, sometimes mucus and ocassional tinge of blood, but VAST improvement considering i had to get a blood transfusion 2 days before my first dose cuz i was bleeding so much.

I am currently taking remacaid. I've benn getting infusions for almost a yr now. It is working out great for me but it did take two weeks or so for me to notice anything. I haven't had to make a trip to the ER since I've been on remacaid. I use to go every other month and now I have a load of hospital bills.

I was in so much pain. I was losing a lot of weight from UC. I got down to 90 pounds. I also was losing a lot of blood and had to get a blood transfusion. All of my trips to the ER and all my many different stays at the hospital was later proven to b because of another illness I did not know i had. I also now have endometriosis on top of everything else. But the remicaid has kept me in remission now for almost a yr. I was on Asacol which was doing nothing for me. I took prednisone which was also not helping. I tried enemies and they too were not helping. I know that my pain was associated with endo but it took 7 yrs of my life for any doctor to listen or get down to the real reason behind my pain. I old tell them every time I went to the ER that I thought it was female related but they wouldn't listen. They just kept saying it must be a UC flare. They even wanted to have surgery on me but the surgeon told me that he wouldn't because he said UC doesn't cause the amount of pain I was in. And so it didn't. It was endo.
