I just realized tonight that I have a fever. And I'm on Humira. I had been getting dizzy and then I realized that I was a bit chilled. Took my temp and it was 99.5 (nothing major, but this thermometer always reads low).

If I still have a temp tomorrow, is it over-reacting to go to the ER? Neither my primary nor my GI will be back until Monday. And I prefer not to go to an urgent care.

I already know that I have a slight yeast infection (aka fungal infection) around my ostomy :(.

activeucer, i could've written this exact post.

i have been burning up all day, very dizzy and have a bad headache. i'm peeing like crazy and it doesn't help that i'm flaring either. i'm worried i'll get dehydrated really quick. i'm taking tylenol tomorrow if my fever isn't gone, but i'm calling my GI on monday.

Yeah, I'm also worried about dehydration with the ileostomy. We don't absorb stuff right anyway. You have to worry about it b/c of the UC :(.

I'm drinking some gatorade now. I'll probably take an electrolyte pill. The doctors/ostomy nurses recommend putting salt in the gatorade to make it more absorption friendly, but the last time I tried that it reminded me too much of colonoscopy prep!

good idea with the gatorade. i'm drinking lots of coconut water and apple cider... probably why i'm peeing so much.

i hate feeling like this. it's been a while since i had chills/high fever and i ended up in the hospital for a week. i'm praying i don't start throwing up becaue then i'll have no choice but to go to the ER.

did you get a flu shot? the worst part about this is i was going for my flu shot and pneumonia shot on monday! i guess i waited too long. i know my humira is coming in this week but i'm not sure if i should start it while i'm so sick.

Absolutely do NOT take your Humira while sick. Call your doctor and see how long you should wait.

I had been holding off on the flu shot b/c I was on pred. Then I went off pred and onto Humira. I called to get one earlier this week but my doc was out :(. Got my pneumonia shot in early August.

Hope you feel better! When I first started Humira ,used to feel like a cold was coming on. Then the next day I was fine. My GI said unless I had swollen glands and I high fever he was not so concerned. Did you take some acetaminophen . Maybe that would help till you can see someone. So many people are sick around me. I stay away from them all.

I woke up this morning with no fever! Yay! The highest I saw it last night was 101. I'm not sure what to make of it. I might have had a fever earlier this week too (was laying under four or five blankets being really cold). I was going to go to the Christmas Party today, but it's an hour fifteen drive each direction, I don't want to make myself worse, and I don't want to b exposed to alot of people.

I hope you feel better banana.

active ucer, i also have no fever today (knock on wood!). i woke up around 3 am and was totally soaked. must have sweated it out overnight. my head feels like a shaken snowglobe though. i feel pretty off balance and headachey. i'm gonna take it easy and just keep resting.

good idea about skipping the party. that is a very long drive, especially if later in the night you don't feel well and have to drive home with a fever.

I'm glad your fever broke! Yay!

Mine has returned a bit. I think I've been getting slight fevers in the evenings for a few nights now. It just broke 100 (ended up 100.5 at highest) on Sat night only though.

I start tomorrow, Humira that is. You're scaring me about fevers and being sick. I've taken diflucan for three days in a row, just to clear out any yeast I may have.

I would recommend taking a antihistamine before the shots and maybe even afterward.

I went to the doc today as when I sat up after waking up, I had horrible dizziness. I got dizzy again moving my head around, washing my face, and with other positional changes. She said I probably had a virus earlier in the week and that as a result, some particles in my ear got stuck. I was worried that I was getting an ear infection or something even though my ears didn't hurt.

So you don't need to freak out about every fever, just be cautious.

Around your stoma get diaper cream and change your system. If you fever reaches 101 or higher then you need to see a doc. If your nearing injection day possibly put it off a day or two so the ffever is gone.
