Biaxin??

MY Daughter was given a prescription for Biaxin for possible bronchitis,she was told not to fill it unless she got worse. That was yesterday, and today she is running fever up to 102 mid day.

 She is seeing her regular internist tomorrow, to get another opinion before she begins the antibiotic.

 I have heard somewhere that it is a particularly harsh antibiotic, and would prefer augmentin which she has used before for strep, it didn't seem to aggravate her stomach,then. Her stomach is feeling a litttle wobbly ,too. I'm hoping it's only a cold virus, just a simple cold. She is a 1st grade teacher.

Any advise on the antibiotic should she need it.

I saw something recently about an antibiotic that can cause c-diff more than others, which one was that?

I ALWAYS avoid strong antibiotics by mouth..I always get injections. One time when I had an infection, I went to my nurse practitioner probably 5 days in a row to get the shots..it still tore my stomach up, but it didn't hurt my UC.

I suggest that if you start antibiotics take increase the dose of your probiotic. I need to take antibiotics for dental care after a knee replacement and my GI said I'd do better with probiotics before and after the antibiotics and I have not had a problem so far. I used to get horrible diarrhea before I started the probiotics.
