Any good remedys for hemi's anyone? Holiday indulging left me with a nasty one.

Sitz baths are good. I have gotten some really good cream from my GI that has some hydrocortisone in it. Helps numb things out a bit. Was a lifesaver at one point for me. The brand name I think is Analpram but I get generic.

I've been having a problem with a nasty hemmy for about two months now. I tried sitz baths and had some 2.5% hydrocortizone cream which did not help. I just saw my GI a couple of days ago and he gave me a prescription for a new tube of the same cream. So far nothing. This has been a real pain in the ass.

Hi Gary! I knew we would agree on something one of these days. LOL! I have the same crap meds as you. Had to give 3 Massages today. Very uncomfortable to say the least. I also have one that has some lidocaine in it. Does nothing.
We need to find something that works better :)

Proctocedyl is a good treatment, but it's prescription.

Zinc is a good possibility. Witch hazel. Aloe vera?

Sitz baths for sure maybe in epsom salts?

Zinc ? OTC. The Proctocedyl is that the same as 2.5 hydrocort ?
The hemi I have now is a real pain. It's out and big!!!!!

OWWWWWWWWWW! I've never had one like that, but can only imagine the pain you're in.

Zinc can be found in many preparations, but I've only used it externally.  I did get the straight zinc oxide.  I then ended up using a diaper cream that had it in it.

Hey quincy, just called the GI . Hopefully they will call it in today. The receptionist said by Monday . I whined a little maybe they will feel bad for me. Hate to resort to that LoL. Too much eating this holiday...Yikes!!!! TY

dr. teal's epsom salt soaking solution w/eucalyptus & spearmint -

farting optional but usually preferred -

tucks pads for wiping -

lol...whining by saying "it's out and BIG" hopefully will help.

Do take time to rest with your butt on pillows so that it can maybe regress and become less engorged with blood.

Can you push it back in? I hear some have done that...but again, I've not got any experience with it.

If you're just soaking with nothing else in it (or just epsom salts)...feet resting above the body might help. Keep us posted...be gentle.

I put witch hazel on them multiple times a day (every time I'm in the bathroom).

Stereo, sounds interesting. Going to take a look. This is the worst case of external hemorrhoids I've ever had . Quincy recommended Proctocedyl . Called my GIs office and asked for it. I guess my insurance wouldnt pay for it. The nurse called in 5% lidocaine . Spearmint flavor. I am now using spearmint flavor ointment on my butt. Crazy!!! Do you think The Wise Woman Supp would be good for external hemorrhoids. Soooo uncomfortable! Thanks!

Quincy! Nurse called in lidocaine 5% . It's spearmint flavor. Used for sore gums.I guess my insurance was a no go for Proctocedyl . Hope I can go to work tomorrow . Have 3 massages back to back. OYE!!!. Spearmint flavor lol:)

I would ask your doctor before going ahead with the suppositories. This is the only website link I've found them to be sold and shipped. They are $27 dollars for a 12 pack. Very easy to use (i use 1 supp nightly) and no mess! I've tried Canasa supps and butyrate+glutathione supps without any luck in the past. Within a few nights I noticed a difference, I hope whatever you can find works.

Faithmac...the proctosedyl ointment isn't covered here either, but only purchased with prescription. I'm not getting why you can't get it prescribed to you, can you not still get it?

Don't get the lidocaine "flavoured with spearmint"...

So, do you have an internal hemmie that's protruded or an external hemmie?

Not that I'm exactly feeling your pain, but I'm feeling my external hemmie since today.

Sit on a narrow ice pack. Only thing that ever works for me for shrinking them and relieving the pain.
Tried several creams and suppositories, sitz baths and tucks... Nothing helped but ice.

I've had some sporadic success with a homeopathic hemi blend, but the ice is the first thing I go to unless I'm out of the house.
